During a recent presentation by the City of Wilmington Human Resources Director to the City Council it was stated that Police and Fire employees were at no greater risk on the job than any other employee. This is clearly not true according to the Federal Government!

The following is a small excert from a risk study by the Department of Labor:

"Police and firefighters face unique job hazards. They
are more likely than other workers to die violently–from gunshots, vehicle accidents, and fire related incidents."

"Their risk of suffering a fatal incident is three times greater than for all workers."
